I have drawn and painted many churches in many countries over the years but this summer I focused on some Glasgow church doorways to brighten up the portfolio.
The first is the Ramshorn Kirk in Glasgow’s Merchant City. The Merchant’s graveyard to the rear originally extended to the front under what is now Ingram Street. The location of the graves of 18th century Glasgow printers, the Foulis Brothers, is still marked on the pavement. Coincidently, one of the Glasgow School of Art buildings I studied in was the Foulis building.
