This gouache painting depicts the famous Arco de Cuchilleros (the Knifemakers' Arch)
The prominent stone archway visible at the centre of the building serves as one of the main monumental entrances leading up into the historic Plaza Mayor.
Many of the cafes and bars in this area have notices claiming that a famous American author frequented their premises. Except for one, which has a sign saying - 'Hemingway did not drink here!'
